Bamboo Availability List

Bamboos are members of the grass family and range from dwarf to giant specimens and are perennial and evergreen, requiring minimum upkeep once established. May be grown in containers but are most beautiful when grown near a water feature. Bamboo's make a stunning addition to any size or style of garden, patio, balcony or pondside.

Fargesia dracocephala (Dragon's Head Bamboo) Dense, dark green leaves are more tolerant of sun than other varieties. Culms turn red or reddish black when exposed to the sun. Moist soil in sun or partial shade.		HEIGHT: To 5m.
Fargesia scabrida Asian Wonder Clump forming, non-invasive new introduction from China. New culms have a purple colour. All fertile soils in sun or part shade.		HEIGHT: 3-4m.
Fargesia sp. Juizhaigou A new, colourful variety with a columnar dense habit and is extremely hardy. Non invasive. Suits sun or semi-shade in all fertile soils.		HEIGHT: 2-4m.
Fargesia utilis Purple arching canes with blue-green foliage. For moist well-drained soil in partial shade.		HEIGHT: To 5m
Phyllostachys bambusoides f. lacrima-deae Green culms overlaid with blackish-purple, spotted branches. Tall, thick canes. Moist, well-drained soil. Sun or semi-shade.		HEIGHT: 6-8m. SPREAD: Indefinite
Phyllostachys bissettii (Bamboo) Very hardy ,vigorous grower, elegant dark green leaves ,ideal where dense green screen required. Fertile, moist well drained soil, full sun or dappled shade.		HEIGHT: 4-6m.
Phyllostachys nigra (Black Bamboo) A beautiful clump-forming bamboo of graceful arching habit. Canes, green the first year becoming mottled dark brown or black and finally jet black. Requires full sun or daplled shade.		HEIGHT: 2-3m.
Pleioblastus pygmaeus var. distichus An upright, woody bamboo with downy mid-green leaves with hollow canes. Shelter from cold dry winds. For moist well drained soil in sun or semi shade.		HEIGHT: 1m. SPREAD: 1.5m.
