 Jobs for.....January

• Spray fruit trees and bushes with a winter wash. Choose a calm day to do so.
• Make sure that your greenhouse heating is working.
• Prune apple and pear trees.
• After strong winds, check and if required, firm back recently planted trees, shrubs etc.
• Brush heavy snow off conifers, climbers and any light-limbed trees and shrubs before damage occurs. 
• Keep feeding garden birds.
• Buy seed potatoes. 

Plant of the month......Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) 

						DECIDUOUS SHRUB. Excellent red flowers opening in winter. Leaves colour richly in autumn. The best red Witch Hazel yet. HEIGHT: 3m. Hamamelis x intermedia Diane - Excellent red flowers opening in winter. Leaves colour richly in autumn. The best red Witch Hazel yet. Plant in moist, LIME FREE soil in sun or semi shade. HEIGHT: 3m.
						ROSES.....The rose availability list has just been updated. Choose from over 200 varieties of roses, Shrub, Floribunda, Climbers and Ramblers, Hybrid Tea, Standards and Patio Roses. Quite a few different varieties this year (as well as our regular ones).
						SEED POTATOES.....In stock now. There are 23 varieties of seed potatoes to choose from. Some varieties we havent kept before - Picasso (maincrop), British Queen and Bonnie (second earlies) and Lady Cristl (first early)*.
